The past few years have seen the soundtracks becoming an integral facet of the games, and Madden is leading the pack. As a departure from other games, Madden 10 has decided to throw in some classics as well as current hits - and it will rock you. Looks like you need a visit back in time, to the embryonic days of sports video games, if you have your doubts about PS3 Madden 10. Yeah, it may be a little much to rave about a current day game at the expense of the earliest football video games. But when you look at the old versus the new, you can truly appreciate the epic nature of PS3 Madden 10. It makes sense that at the beginning of the video game console revolution, there was a huge demand for football video games. Trouble was, the video game consoles' abilities weren't as fully realized as gamers' football fantasies, so hardcore gamers had to make do with what was there. In any ads or promos, the manufacturers of this one insisted "all the excitement" of the genuine article. With an open path to the end zone, this is what the number one console in the day scored a touchdown with.

Those players don't even look human. Let's get that out of the way. As crude-looking as that picture is, it's even worse when you see the game in action. Technology was so inadequate back then, that every moving player flickered to the point where you could barely see the action. The sound effects were just brutal. Things were so limited that a scrolling screen was out of the question. Within a couple years, things would pick up slightly, with a competing console developing a football video game. It certainly was an improvement, with improved graphics, sound, and gameplay. But it was still nothing too impressive. The video game world was certainly jazzed when that was released, but it wasn't exactly the gold standard. More time would pass in order for that to transpire. This next one reaped the benefits of the 8-bit gaming revolution, and people still rave about it to this day. For many years, this was the greatest football video game.

It's certainly easy to see why that one was a hit - the gameplay was far more sophisticated, incorporating actual offensive and defensive strategies. Everything - sound, visuals - got such a major upgrade that this was the final word in sports video games. And given that they're making a new online version, there's still a following for it. That being said, PS3 Madden 10 still blows it away. Once you've viewed all the other games, have a gander at PS3 Madden 10.

Yes, technology has been good to the video game world in general, and the football video game has benefitted from it all. But there's no purpose in ragging on the early games. We've made our point. The older football video games served a purpose, and set the stage for bigger, better sports video games. PS3 Madden 10 is in a whole different stratosphere than its predecessors, and for that, hardcore gamers have every reason to be stoked. Better yet, the reviewers share the same level of PS3 Madden 10 love as the fans, always a good thing. Comments like "realistic and enjoyable" pepper each PS3 Madden 10 review. EA Sports has sacked all the competition with PS3 Madden 10, to nobody's surprise. Don't listen to the naysayers and the contrarians - there are few games as great as PS3 Madden 10. Hey, each PlayStation sports video game is EPIC in its own way, but for our money, PS3 Madden 10 is the stuff legends are made of. For many, this is the PlayStation football game by which all others are measured. Along with its major popularity, this is also where you get to battle for bucks.

PlayStation Madden 10 maniacs have the opportunity to challenge each other for some serious cash. The victory - and your opponent's cash - will be in your hands, once you know the score in PS3 Madden 10.
